GES fires Nkwatia Presby SHS Assistant Headmaster for assaulting, slapping a student

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has fired the Assistant Headmaster (Academics) of the Nkwatia Presby SHS Derrick Abu Yeboah after a video surfaced on August 14, capturing him assaulting a 15-year-old second-year student named Diana Mensah.
The video quickly gained traction on social media platforms.
In the video, the Assistant Headmaster is seen slapping and physically attacking Diana Mensah, alleging that she had left the school premises without proper authorization. The assault resulted in Diana sustaining severe eye injury.
In response to the incident, the GES in a statement expressed deep concern over the video's content.
The GES unequivocally condemned the actions of the Assistant Headmaster, labeling his behavior as unacceptable. Consequently, the GES has relieved Derrick Abu Yeboah of his duties in connection with this incident.
In the statement, the GES assured the public that the victim is currently receiving medical attention and counseling to address the physical and emotional impact of the incident.
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, the GES emphasized their commitment to a thorough investigation.
The statement noted that the Eastern Regional Director of Education is collaborating with school authorities and law enforcement agencies to thoroughly examine the matter.
