GNACOPS commends NPP and NDC’s commitments towards Private Education Service

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have both expressed their intention to consider establishing a Private Education Service to regulate private education in Ghana, separate from the Ghana Education Service (GES).
This commitment was highlighted in a statement released by the Executive Director of the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Mr Obenfo Nana Kwasi Gyetuah.
The statement followed concerns raised by Mr. Gyetuah during a sectorial debate on education on Accra-based Adom TV on Friday, August 16, 2024.
In the debate, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency (NPP), affirmed the NPP's commitment to collaborating with the private education sector.
"If elected, we will work with private sector players to ensure the establishment of the Private Education Service," he stated.
Similarly, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, MP for Builsa South (NDC), assured that the next NDC government would consider creating the Private Education Service as a critical entity to oversee private education in Ghana.
He emphasised that the NDC's inclusive approach to education would integrate private senior high schools into the Free SHS policy.
GNACOPS has commended both political parties for their commitment to supporting private education in Ghana.
"We look forward to working with them to establish a Private Education Service that will benefit all stakeholders in the education sector," the statement concluded.
