Ghana@67: 46 BECE graduates receive President’s Independence Day Awards
On Friday, 1st March 2024, President Nana Akufo-Addo honoured 46 young, brilliant students, who, out of some 602,457 students that sat last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), emerged as the overall best students.
Out of the 46 top-performing students, 36 were selected from public schools and 10 from private schools, based on their outstanding raw scores obtained from the BECE 2023.
Out of the 46 students, two visually impaired students and two students with hearing impairments were also received awards.
This is the first time in the history of this awards ceremony that students from private schools have been honoured.
The Presidents Independence Day Awards is organised each year ahead of the country’s Independence Day celebration slated for 6 March.
