Help us with computers for our ICT lab – Nyambong L/A Primary and JHS appeals for support
Residents of Nyambong, a town in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, and old students of the Nyambong L/A Primary and JHS are appealing to the government and other philanthropists to assist the school with computers for its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lab to enhance the effective teaching and learning of ICT.
The community in collaboration with the old students have contributed to renovate one of the classrooms and turned it into an ICT lab for the school but need assistance to fit the lab with the necessary computers and other ICT equipment.
The school is the only educational facility in the town.
According to an old student, Sylvester Adreban, teachers are forced to teach the children at the primary and junior high levels with pictures of ICT equipment drawn in government text books offered to them by the government, thus, inhibiting effective teaching and learning on the ICT in the school.
According to him, many school-going children in the town have never set an eye on a computer mouse or desktop let alone get to know how to operate the computer, placing them at a disadvantaged position compared to their colleagues in other schools.
Despite this challenge, Mr Adreban said the school has produced good students including a student of the University of Cape Coast’s College of Distance Education who was adjudged the overall best graduating student in 2016.
The school authorities and the community as well as old students are appealing for the support for the provision of computers, printer(s), photocopier machine, wireless adapter for internet and a projector.
