Opoku-Agyemang steps down as Chancellor of Women's University in Africa

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), departed from Accra for Harare, Zimbabwe on Saturday night.
Her visit marks the beginning of her formal disengagement from her role as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa, a position she has held for seven years.
This decision allows Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to fully dedicate herself to the 2024 presidential campaign of John Mahama.
During her tenure, she collaborated closely with the university's management, board of trustees, and Council to restructure the institution, enhancing its functionality and financial independence.
Under her leadership, the Women’s University in Africa prioritized educational opportunities for women who missed the chance to attend university earlier in life, as well as young women who were unable to complete high school.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also implemented more flexible learning options, focusing on practical, hands-on programs that bridge the gap between theory and practice.
She will preside over her final graduation ceremony on August 30, 2024, before returning to Accra the following day.
