Schools unveilled

The Chief Executive of the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, has opened new classroom blocks for the Kanvili R/C Cluster of Schools, Gbalahi Methodist Primary and the Kpene M/A Primary schools to improve teaching and learning in the area.

Each school received a three-classroom block, fully furnished with dual desks and ancillary facilities.

They were built with funding from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and internally-generated funds of the Assembly.

Each cost GHS150, 000.

The MCE appealed to the Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) of the schools to maintain the facilities for long use.

She said education is one of the priorities of the Assembly, adding that more of such infrastructure were in the offing.

“So, we think that, as a municipality, we need to make the foundation right, we need to give a good learning environment to the early stages of education so they can progress to benefit from free SHS education.”

She disclosed that the municipal assembly has undertaken a number of infrastructure interventions with support from the USD1 million per constituency initiative and the District Development Facility.

At the inauguration ceremony of the projects, the Sagnarigu Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Hajia Samata Mahama said the facilities will boost the quality of teaching and learning in the area.

She also appealed to the assembly and non-governmental organisations to assist them with kindergartens.
