UEW expects 40,000 new students next year; cries for lecturers

He indicated that the university is in dire need of more lecturers as the school is expecting a student population of 40,000 next academic year and is, therefore, calling on the government to give them the green light to hire.
He was speaking at a three-day international multidisciplinary conference for postgraduate students of UEW.
Professor Afful-Broni said: “We’re having challenges with the employment of people, especially lecturers who would be able to teach our numerous students. Lots of people will like to access education and we want to be partners with the government’s excellent programme for free Senior High School.
“Lots of people have bought forms and are coming, we’re going to have about 40,000 new students next year and we need teachers but we do not have the opportunity to employ because if you employ and the government hasn’t given you your clearance, it will be difficult to pay them”, Prof Afful-Broni said.
