The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) led by its President, Mr Abraham Norman Nortey, has launched a mobile app "UHASMobile".

The app was officially launched over the weekend at the UHAS North Campus in Ho.

According to the SRC President, the idea to create the app came to him last year when he was adjudged the best tertiary student in the country.

He said he has observed that many tertiary institutions such as the University of Ghana, Legon (UG) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have a school app but UHAS did not, so, he thought it wise to create one when he became the student leader.

Mr Nortey said the app will facilitate the activities of students on campus.

"There have been a lot of challenges students face when it comes to information and a world without proper communication and information leads to a mess, so, the SRC thought it very prudent that, at least, to bring this initiative forth for the students to have almost all the university’s resources or information in just a single click", he noted.

Mr Nortey indicated that GHS3,000 went into developing the app with voluntary support from some resource persons.

The local President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) of UHAS, Mawuli Agbe, was optimistic the app will go a long way to help students and outsiders.

"This app is not only going to help students who are already in the university but it is going to help students who will apply into the university as well in the sense that it will serve as an opportunity for them to know the entry requirements of the university, the cut-off point and to know the various departments and what the various courses entail", he said.
