2 killed, 5 injured in Mankessim shooting incident
The Central Regional Police Command has confirmed that two people have been killed and five injured in a shooting incident that occurred at Mankessim in the Mfantseman municipality during the installation of a queen mother.
“The Central Regional Police Command wants to confirm to the media that there has been a shooting incident at Mankessim when a queen mother was being enstooled”, the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Irene Oppong said, adding: “Currently, seven people have been shot, two have passed on and five are on admission”.
She said any further development would be communicated to the media.
The installation ceremony was resisted by a rival faction, resulting in the shooting incident.
The police has deployed more officers to the area to maintain peace.
