A/R: Five killed in tragic road accident on Dabaa-Akropong road

Five people, including a mother and her two children, lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Dabaa-Akropong road in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, when a private car with registration number AS 7403-21 veered off the road, plunged into the Owabi River, and somersaulted several times.
The victims included the driver, her two children, and two passengers from different families who had been given a lift.
Assembly Member for the Owabi Electoral Area, Mr. Osei Kwame Malik, explained that the driver had been on her way to drop her children at school and had picked up the two other passengers en route to their destinations.
According to Mr. Malik, the accident occurred when the vehicle veered off at an intersection, leading to the deadly plunge into the river.
Tragically, all five individuals on board were killed.
After the crash, a search team conducted a retrieval operation in the river, which included the pouring of libation before the bodies were recovered.
The deceased have been sent to the Tabiri Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, regional police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident
