A/R: Fuel tanker catches fire while discharging fuel to tricycles at Kaase

A fuel tanker discharging fuel to some tricycles at Kaase a surburd of Kumasi in the Ashnati region, on Friday, January 21, 2022, at about 3:15 pm, caught fire destroying about 40 wooden structures.
Preliminary investigation by the Police has established that the driver of Daf tanker number AS 2531-19 was discharging fuel to some tricycle riders and in the process caught fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service managed to bring the fire under control.
The Police were at the scene to ensure free flow of traffic, provide security to the officers and the motoring public and secure the scene from any interference.
No fatalities have so far been recorded.
However, about 40 wooden structures were burnt.
The truck driver and the tricycle riders escaped the scene and have gone into hiding.
Meanwhile, the Police says it is doing everything possible to effect their arrest and has urged everyone to desist from engaging in activities that have the potential to put the lives of the general public at risk.
