Bagbin refers Sosu police complaint to Privileges C'ttee
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has referred an alleged case of contempt involving the police service and the Member of Parliament for Madina, Mr Francis-Xavier Sosu, to the Privileges Committee for investigation.
It follows an alleged assault on the MP by some identified police officials after he led a demonstration with his constituents on the nature of bad roads in certain communities within the La Nkwantangang-Madina Municipality in Accra.
The police attempted to arrest the lawmaker but his constituents prevented them from doing so.
Mr Sosu officially lodged a complaint at the plenary to the Speaker.
Mr Bagbin then referred the issue to the Privileges Committee for investigation and subsequent report to the house.
Meanwhile, Mr Sosu says he will continue working with the police in his constituency for the common good of Madina.
