On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia inaugurated a Digital Repository at Wesley Girls Senior High School, which he funded in memory of his late mother, Hajia Mariama Bawumia, an alumna of the school.
The repository, a testament to Wesley Girls' 187-year history, promises to be a valuable asset for the academic institution.
Dr. Bawumia emphasised the significance of the repository, noting its utility in facilitating easy access to important records for past and present students as well as staff.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the school's legacy, inspired by the support he received from his mother's classmates of the 1960-year group following her passing in 2021.
Prompted by the Old Girls' Association on the first anniversary of his mother's demise, Dr. Bawumia eagerly backed the initiative to establish a digital repository in her honor. The project has successfully digitised all student records, ensuring they are readily accessible with a simple touch.
Dr. Bawumia encouraged other educational institutions to follow suit, stressing the importance of digitizing valuable records for preservation and ease of access.
