CMG Media Training Centre extends admission date
The Class Media Group’s Media Training Centre has extended admissions by a month in order to cater to the increased number of students that have shown interest.
The media training school was initially scheduled to its programmes on 15 September 2019.
However, the Group CEO of CMG, Mr Kojo Ackaah-Kwarteng, has announced a review of the calendar.
He said: “Lectures were supposed to start next week [third week of September] but a lot of people keep coming in and pleading that for financial reasons, we should give them some time to join us”.
The new deadline is now 15 October 2019 and lectures begin three days afterwards.
He emphasised that the centre is not an academic institution but a place “to connect your heart, hands and head” to hone broadcasting talents.
After the completion of the six-month programme, the students will undertake a practical project which will be reviewed by the facilitators “until you get it right”.
The students will then have their own copies of their demos in addition to certificates which will be issued after completion of the course.
Located at the CMG head office, Labone, near the America Embassy at Labone, 3rd Dade Walk off the Kweku Baako street, Accra, the media training centre boasts of ultra-modern radio and television studios and other resources across the country which will be made available to the trainees immediately they enrol. The curriculum is designed to help them become astute journalists who will help shape society.
Mr Ackaah-Kwarteng emphasised that the initiative “is part of helping people to fulfil their dreams. Those who want become broadcasters can come through here and we have the people who will share the experiences and expertise”.
“We have the platform to train them; the catch is that at the end of the day, as people go through the training, we will look at those with the abilities and the capacities to join this media group and we will give them the opportunity to work with us. So, that is the overarching objective of the CMG Training Centre”.
He said the response by prospective students has been marvelous and the Centre has created an opportunity to accommodate more students.
The programme of instruction covers Radio Programme Hosting, TV News Hosting, TV Programme Hosting, Camera Handling, Video Editing, Sports Presenting and Hosting, Radio Disc Jockeying and Sound Engineering.
