Media conglomerate Class Media Group (CMG), on Wednesday, 4 August 2021, launched Dagbon102.5FM, one of its units in the northern part of Ghana.

Apart from Dagbon102.5FM, CMG owns and operates Class91.3FM (Accra), Accra100.5FM (Accra), No.1 105.3FM (Accra), CTV (Accra), Kumasi104.1FM (Kumasi), Adehyee99.1FM (Kumasi), Ho92.5FM (Ho), Taadi99.1FM (Takoradi), Sunyani FM (Sunyani) and ClassFMonline.com.

As one of the youngest members of the conglomerate, Dagbon102.5FM has been established to serve the people of Dagbon in the Northern Region and its immediate environs.

Speaking on behalf of the CMG headquarters at the launch, Alhaji Murtala, Channel Manager of Class91.3FM, expressed gratitude to the eminent chiefs and traditional leaders, especially the chairman of the event, “for the warm reception” accorded the CMG family and “for allowing us the space to establish one of our radio stations here in this great kingdom of Dagbon”.

He said the founder of CMG, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, “is a known philanthropist” who “has a vision to help and support the vulnerable in our society”.

“Being a northerner and a Muslim himself, he is fully aware of the struggles of these parts of the country”, Alhaji Mutala noted, adding: “He has been a pillar of hope to thousands of people and he continues [to be]”.

“He’s done that for years”, Alhaji Murtala said.

He said Dagbon FM has been “established here in this region to help in the developmental agenda of the good people of this region”.

According to him, the station and its managers “intend to roll out the best programmes rooted in the customs and traditions of Dagbon”.

He urged the indigenes and residents of Dagbon to own the station, saying: “This radio station here is not for our founder. This radio station we are establishing today is for the people of Dagbon. So, Dagbon FM shall be for all people within the reach of our transmission power, no matter where you are coming from; so long as you are within Dagbon, you are within the kingdom, we are for you, we are yours”.

Furthermore, Alhaji Murtala said: “We also intend to roll out some events and promotions that will support the communities within which we operate, which is here”.

He appealed to the people and traditional leaders to give their full support to the station.

“Naa Chair, we ask for your support and blessings in making this enterprise successful. It is not how good the beginning is, it’s how good the ending is”.

“We seek the full support of the eminent chiefs of this land and great people of this land to help make Dagbon FM sustainable and long-lasting success.

“We thank you all for the support. May Allah crown our efforts with success, may Allah make this establishment great and successful”, Alhaji Murtala pleaded.

As part of the launch, CMG and Dagbon FM donated 25 sewing machines sponsored by CMG founder Alhaji Agongo, to the chiefs of the area to be given to girls who are orphaned so they could learn a trade to fend for themselves.

In addition, the beneficiaries will receive free training.

The items were presented by CMG's head of compliance and welfare Lydia Gifty Hagan on behalf of the founder.

The event was chaired by Nanton Nyoglo Naa Abass Salifu.

Dagbon102.5FM, which is located behind the old sports stadium near the old Kaladan barracks, is managed by Alhaji Rashid Bawa.
