The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that nothing positive would be achieved in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 without the intervention of God.

According to him, although prayer does not change God’s nature, it can change His mind. “Prayer moves God and for that matter, it moves the earth,” he stated.

He added: “None of us can measure the value of prayer; it is only in prayer that angels descend on earth. The Bible says that the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much. We are righteous people in Christ, and therefore this prayer we have prayed will work.”

Apostle Nyamekye said in a remark when he led members of The Church of Pentecost and the nation at large to climax the National Day of Fasting and Prayers at the studios of PENT TV on Wednesday.

Recounting the fast rate of infection and casualties, Apostle Nyamekye stated: “We are faced with the greatest medical crises of our lifetime. None has immunity to COVID-19. It doesn’t spare anyone, not even the young and the healthy; nobles and the rich are quarantined, and the poor are afraid. No vaccine yet.”

Praying on behalf of The Church of Pentecost for the nations of the world, Apostle Eric Nyamekye appealed to God to instruct the angel of destruction to withdraw his hand because destruction caused by the deadly disease is enough.

“We have prayed all kinds of prayer to God. We have petitioned Him. We have bound and loosed; we have claimed, we have praised and worshipped Him. Father, arise and tell this COVID-19 that it is enough because Your children are involved. We don’t even want unbelievers to die without knowing You. We are fighting an invisible enemy so it is difficult for us, but You know the root of this virus. You know how to wipe it completely from the earth. God, I plead, listen to our prayer and arise from Your seat of mercy and forgive our sins and mistakes,” he pleaded.

The Chairman called on Ghanaians to observe all the social distancing protocols announced by the government and health experts to avoid community spread as God deals with it spiritually.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Addo, on Saturday, March 21, 2020, while addressing the nation on the state of the COVID-19 in Ghana, appealed to all Ghanaians, to observe March 25 as a ‘National Day of Fasting and Prayer’ to help in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
