As part of measures put in place by management of the Kumasi Children's Home to ensure safety amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, visitors have been barred from frequenting the orphanage.

The orphanage has in addition, asked some of its workers to stay away from the workplace for some time to ensure social distancing.

The Manager of the Children's Home, Mabel Amponsah, speaking to Class News said: “visitors are not allowed to go where they are. They are not allowed beyond the administration block. We are preventing outsiders from mingling with the children.”

She added that due to the current COVID-19 situation, donations were not flowing like before. She therefore appealed for more support to cushion the supplies received from government so far.

“Government, through the Ministry is doing what it can and other people are also supporting us. Donations have reduced because we are not in normal times. Still we need some PPEs and stuff to help us promote their health,” she noted.

Currently, Ghana’s caseload stands at 8,548 with 3,132 recoveries and 38 deaths.
