Addressing the vetting committee, Mr Afenyo-Markin said, “The Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, many may have their views about him, but I am one person who respects him, admires him. If we had his type manning our police service and other institutions, Ghana would be a better place.”
He acknowledged that there might be disagreements over Dr Dampare’s leadership style but insisted that his achievements far outweigh any criticisms.
The Minority Leader further commended Dr Dampare for his youthful energy and proactive approach to policing.
“Such an energetic IGP who isn’t 60 yet shouldn’t be removed,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stated, emphasising that the country needs dynamic and dedicated individuals like Dr Dampare to lead key institutions.

In his concluding remarks, Mr Afenyo-Markin reiterated the importance of celebrating individuals who dedicate themselves to national service.
