The National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured an interlocutory injunction from the High Court instructing members of the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) and the Technical University Teachers Association (TUTAG) to call ofF their strike.

The order takes effect from today, Wednesday, 14 January 2020 for 10 days.

A portion of the court’s order reads: “It is hereby ordered that the respondents herein, their executive officers, members, agents, servants, employees and other persons are to call off their strike effective 14th January 2020 for a 10-day period”.

TUSAAG declared an indefinite strike on 8 January 2020 over the government’s failure to increase the allowance of its members.

They argued that their colleague lecturers in other public universities received more than TUSAAG members did.

Declaring the strike, the union, in a statement, said: “This resolve is to register our displeasure about the inability of the government to comply with the National Labour Commission (NLC) on 4 November 2019 in the matter between the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) and the Ministry of Education to pay all allowances due Senior Members of the Technical Universities by 31 December 2019.”

TUTAG  has also been on strike over its unpaid allowance.
