Dumsor caused K’si Central Market fire – Victims
Some victims of the Kumasi Central Market fire have attributed the disaster to frequent intermittent power outages.
Over 30 shops in the "Nkokɔ Adwasuo" lane of the market were razed by the blaze on Sunday, 18 April 2021, around 8:45 pm.
Properties amounting to thousands of Ghana cedis including sandals, shoe-making machines, among others were lost in the fire outbreak.
Although the Ghana National Fire Service is yet to come out with the cause of the fire, some victims have attributed it to the current erratic power situation.
Some of the affected traders who spoke to Kumasi FM's Elisha Adarkwah said the power tripped just before the inferno started in one of the shops.
They, therefore, called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to come out with a load-shedding timetable so that they will know how to go about their business.
They also called on the government and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to their aid.
