Fire sweeps through Madina market
A blaze engulfed sections of the Madina Market in Accra on Wednesday night.
The fire, which began around 9:00 pm, prompted a swift response from firefighters of the Ghana National Fire Service, who arrived at the scene simultaneously to combat the flames.
According to state broadcaster GBC, approximately 50 stalls have succumbed to the inferno, although the exact cause remains undetermined.
Market fires are commonplace in Ghana.
Major markets such as Agbogbloshie in Accra and Kejetia in Kumasi have seen major fire disasters every now and then.
