Five dead, 7 injured in Kasoa-Cape Coast road crash
Five passengers have died on the spot while seven are in critical condition after a head-on collision at Gomoa Adam near Gomoa Anteadze on the Kasoa - Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
The accident involved two passenger cars – a Ford Transit with registration number GS 6031- 20 and a Toyota Hiace with the registration number GR 5059-20.
According to reports, 14 people in total were involved in the accident.
The seven who survived are receiving treatment at the Apam Catholic Hospital.
Meanwhile, two of them have been treated and discharged.
In an interview with the media, one of the survivors, Issah Abubakar, said he boarded the car from Kasoa heading to Cape Coast but upon reaching a section of the road, he saw the Ford Transit overtaking another car wrongly and, in the process, colliding with their car.
Another accident on Tuesday, 15 September 2020, claimed the lives of 14 people at Kyekyewere in the Eastern Region on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
According to the Director of the Ayensuano National Disaster Management Organisation, Mr Joseph Okai Gyan, “a DAF cargo truck fully loaded with goods going to Accra, veered off its lane and crashed into two buses fully loaded with passengers, heading to Accra from Kumasi.”
The two buses were an STC bus with registration number GE 8131-16 from Wa heading to Accra and a Grand Bird Bus with registration Number GT 4997-20 heading to Accra.
The dead bodies and body parts were conveyed to the morgue.
