Fix our bad roads! Swedru drivers march
Some drivers at Agona Swedru in the Central Region on Monday, 4 November 2019 brought commercial activities in the town to a halt, as part of a protest against the government over the poor roads in the area.
Clad in red armbands amidst chants of war songs, the drivers complained about the bad roads.
They blocked the roads that link to Swedru -- a major transit route for many towns in the area such as Akyem Oda, Winneba, Ajumako and Awutu Bawjiase.
The drivers also kicked against a decision by the local assembly to collect tolls while the roads remain in a poor state.
The latest demonstration adds to several ones staged in the past in other parts of the country by aggrieved residents.
The angry drivers and residents of Swedru have served notice to continue demonstrating if the government fails to listen to them.
