Foreign Affairs Minister welcomes resumption of Delta’s Accra–Atlanta flights, praises new Ghana–Canada route
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, has hailed the return of Delta Air Lines’ non-stop flight between Accra and Atlanta, which resumed operations on December 1, 2025.
Describing the development as “exciting and impactful,” the Minister said the reinstated service offers Ghanaian travellers greater convenience while strengthening commercial and cultural links between Ghana and the United States.
The government has also applauded Air Transat of Canada for its upcoming historic non-stop flight between Ghana and Canada, scheduled to begin operations on June 17, 2026.
The new route is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the two countries.
Mr. Ablakwa said both developments mark important milestones in Ghana’s aviation and foreign policy outlook.
“These refreshing advancements will accelerate our economic diplomacy objectives, boost trade and tourism, and offer real value and convenience—particularly to Ghanaian travellers,” he noted.
The Minister took to his Facebook page on Tuesday to express his delight about the latest development in the aviation sector of the economy
The Ministry believes the expanded flight options will further position Ghana as a key aviation hub in the sub-region while opening new pathways for investment, business, and stronger bilateral partnerships.
