GA/R: Road construction works begin in Ashaiman

Construction works have officially begun on several key roads in Ashaiman of the Greater Accra Region, offering renewed hope to thousands of residents and motorists who have long battled gridlock and poor road conditions.
The ongoing project, which involves the installation of pavement blocks at critical T-junctions ahead of full asphalt overlay, is expected to be completed within three months.
The works are part of a broader road maintenance initiative aimed at easing traffic flow and improving accessibility across the municipality.
During a site inspection, Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.
He noted that the road projects were initially launched under the previous NDC administration but were halted during the tenure of the NPP.
“I’m glad that under the current NDC government, we are resuming and continuing the development projects we started,” he said.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ashaiman, Freeman Tsekpo, also welcomed the progress.
He expressed hope that within the next four years, a significant number of Ashaiman’s roads would be fully resurfaced with bitumen.
In the interim, the Assembly is committed to reshaping and maintaining all deteriorating roads to ensure they remain motorable.
Residents have praised the renewed efforts, saying the construction marks a long-awaited improvement in their daily commute and quality of life.
