GPRTU polls: Delegates root for Kofi Aikins
Delegates of the upcoming Congress of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) have declared their support for one of the aspirants, Mr Kofi Aikins.
The Welfare Chairman of the Teshie-Nungua GPRTU branch, Isaac Ahuma Kobi, noted that at the moment the GPRTU has not got the right leadership, hence the need to vote for Mr Aikens to steer the affairs of the union.
He explained that the lack of good leadership has resulted in the mushrooming of commercial transport unions in the country who are neglecting the mother union.
In his view, if Mr Aikins takes the helm of affairs, discipline would be instilled among the drivers and all other members of the union.
For his part, the Nungua GPRTU Chairman, Mr Isaac Nii Aryee indicated that Mr Aikens is not corrupt, hence the canker would be minimised within the union with Mr Aikins as Chairman.
“The man Kofi Aikins is not corrupt and no one can corrupt him because he is not ready to accept any bribe”, Nii Aryee said, and called on the delegates to vote for him on 27 and 28 March 2020.
