The Deputy Minister for Defence, Mr  Ernest Brogya Genfi, has welcomed the Hungarian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tamás Endre Fehér, to the Ministry of Defence in Accra as part of ongoing engagements aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Hungary.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Forecourt (“the Square”), brought together senior directors from the Ministry of Defence, Ghana, and officials from the Hungarian Embassy, including the Deputy Head of Mission and the Director for Trade.

The visit forms part of a series of follow-up engagements to formalise discussions on defence collaboration between the two nations.

Key among the topics addressed were training exchange programmes, capacity development, and the exploration of new avenues for strategic partnership within the defence and security sectors.

Mr. Brogya Genfi reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Hungary, emphasising that such partnerships are vital for building a resilient, innovative, and professional Ghana Armed Forces capable of responding to emerging security challenges.

A major highlight of the discussions was the strategic partnership between DIHOC (Defence Industries Holding Company Limited) and Hungarian companies for the development of a comprehensive poultry project to enhance food security within the Ghana Armed Forces.

The initiative is expected to contribute to Ghana’s broader food security agenda, ensuring sustainable and locally sourced nutrition support for military personnel while creating opportunities for agro-industrial collaboration.

Mr. Genfi expressed gratitude to Ambassador Fehér for his sustained commitment to the Ghana–Hungary partnership, describing it as “a bridge of innovation, resilience, and mutual growth.”

The Hungarian Ambassador, on his part, reiterated his country’s readiness to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including defence technology, training, and sustainable agriculture.

This engagement marks another step forward in strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relations with Hungary — founded on mutual respect, shared development goals, and long-term strategic collaboration.
