Policy think tank IMANI Africa is set to host a special live presentation on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, to unveil findings from its assessment of the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration's performance during its first 120 days in office.

The review is based on the NDC’s own "120 Days Social Contract," a policy document outlining key commitments the government pledged to fulfil within the first four months of assuming office.

The presentation will evaluate how well the government has adhered to these promises and the broader implications for governance and reform in Ghana.

According to IMANI, while Ghana has made modest yet commendable progress under the current International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, particularly in stabilising the economy and addressing governance issues, sustained reform requires robust citizen oversight and accountability.

The organisation warns that without such pressure, governments often opt for politically expedient actions rather than sustainable, long-term solutions.

The forthcoming presentation will cover several key areas:

An overview of fulfilled commitments within the NDC’s 120-day social contract;

Identification of urgent structural challenges that Ghana must address.

An analysis of how current policy actions align with the country’s long-term development needs;

Practical recommendations to enhance citizen-led advocacy for transparency and reform.

“This exercise is part of our broader effort to deepen democratic accountability, promote structural reform, and ensure inclusive development,” said Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President and CEO of IMANI Africa.

He also acknowledged support from IMANI staff and donors, including the organisation’s first donor of the year—an African international business and development executive with a background in emerging markets on Wall Street.

IMANI has encouraged public participation in the event and emphasised the importance of continued civic engagement to keep the government accountable.
