Ignore fake corruption ranking – GII
The Ghana Integrity Initiative, the local chapter of Transparency International, has said a corruption ranking published by some media houses which ranked Ghana as the 3rd most-corrupt country in the world by perception is fake and should be ignored.
A statement issued in Accra on Friday, 17 January 2020 and signed by the Executive Director of GII, Mrs Linda Ofori-Kwafo, said though the story, which was sourced from www.usnews.com mentioned Transparency International for its definition of corruption and also cited some key statements from its 2018 theme, it did not attribute the rankings to TI.
“Following the interest the story generated among the general public, GII wishes to officially state that neither TII nor GII has released any such report”, the statement said.
GII used the opportunity to announce that its 2019 Corruption Perception Index would be released on Thursday, 23 January 2020.
