Investigative journalist Kwaku Annan has, on one of his episodes on Net2 TV’s The Seat programme, broached what he described as “another controversial topic” about whether or not the Charismatic Christian movement in Ghana poses a threat to Christianity and if such churches should be closed down.

“Should we close charismatic churches?”, he tabled for discussion on his programme which normally hosts Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong – owner of the station.

In a separate episode of the same programme, which has gone viral on social media, the journalist asserted that all the prominent leaders of the Charismatic movement in Ghana have failed the nation, for which God’s anger will descend on them.

“The God of the heavens is bringing judgement onto you people”, he said in a monologue.

“Our bishops, prophets and pastors have become morally and spiritually contaminated”, he observed, adding: “They have dined and wined with the goddess of Babylon”.

“God have mercy on you”, he said.

“I swear God; I don’t fear any bishop or prophet in Ghana. God says I should call you out”, he noted.

He said research shows that churches have proliferated in Ghana to the extent that one out of every 10 buildings in the country is a church.

“God is bringing His judgement onto you people sooner, He’ll weed you out and will torch your churches with his blazing fire. You are leading the children of God into damnation”, he said.

He pointed out non-Christian countries dominated by Hindus, Shintos, Hare Krishnas are rather far-advanced and well-developed than a Christian-dominated country like Ghana.

“The pastors have turned their churches into business and are disgracing God”, Kwaku Annan said, alleging that most of them have bought mansions outside the country.

He bemoaned the flooding of Ghana's media airwaves by pastors who offer nothing good to Ghanaians.
