Leaked tape: IGP to appear before Atta Akyea-led c’ttee today

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is scheduled to appear before the committee investigating the alleged plot to remove him today, Tuesday, September 12.
This development comes after three senior police officers, namely COP Alex Mensah, Superintendent George Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, who were implicated in the leaked audio discussing the IGP's removal, have already appeared before the committee, accompanied by their legal representatives.
Additionally, Chairman of the Committee, Atta Akyea, has stated that the IGP’s name has been bandied about and must, therefore, appear before the committee with his lawyers.
He emphasized that while serious allegations have been made publicly, the specific evidence supporting these allegations has not yet been disclosed to the public.
Appearing before the committee, COP Mensah accused Dr Dampare of being the worst IGP in Ghana’s history.
His stance was backed by Superintendent Asare who told the committee, he had more to say but in camera.
The committee's objective is to uncover the evidential support for these allegations while ensuring that any information shared does not jeopardize national security.
The committee is expected to exercise discretion in deciding which pieces of evidence to make public.
