Makola Zongo lane fire: No casualties recorded – GNFS
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reported the collapse of the eastern section of the structure affected by the fire at Zongo Lane in Accra.
In an update, the GNFS stated: "No firefighter nor civilian casualties recorded," reassuring the public that there were no injuries from the incident.
The GNFS also indicated ongoing efforts to completely extinguish the fire, noting in a Facebook post, “Efforts underway to fully douse the protracted fire.”
Fire broke out on Sunday, 1 September 2024, at the Zongo lane, Makola in Accra.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were at the scene to extinguish the fire.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the tops of buildings housing shops.
However, the firefighters worked to ensure the inferno did not cause further damage.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
