OSP denies any involvement in alleged raid on Ken Ofori-Atta’s plush Cantonments residence
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has denied any involvement in the reported raid on the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, dismissing the incident as a staged act intended to mislead the public.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng described the alleged raid as an imposter action, aimed at discrediting the OSP.
He further declared Mr. Ofori-Atta wanted for multiple corruption-related offences.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not raid your house on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, or on any other day.
The OSP did not authorize any individual, uniformed or otherwise, to do so.
If we enter your premises, you will have no doubt that it is the OSP, and your lawyers would not need to inquire about our presence,” he stated.
Raid AllegationsThe incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Cantonments in Accra.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that about 12 individuals—five in military uniforms, one in a police uniform, and the rest in plain clothes—stormed Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence.
At the time of the alleged raid, Mr. Ofori-Atta was said to be in the United States for medical treatment, but his wife and other relatives were present.
Despite these claims, Mr. Agyebeng reaffirmed that the OSP follows strict legal protocols when conducting searches and investigations, making its presence unmistakable.
“We have clear, structured methods for conducting searches. Our operations are transparent and in accordance with the law,” he assured.
Ofori-Atta Declared WantedMeanwhile, the Special Prosecutor emphasized that his office is not pursuing a personal vendetta, but rather fulfilling its Constitutional mandate.
“God forbid, I have no issues with anybody. I did not take this office to engage in personal battles.
My duty is to uphold the law,” he added.
The OSP has urged the public to disregard any misinformation regarding its involvement in the alleged raid, as investigations into Mr. Ofori-Atta’s corruption allegations continue.
