Parliament reconvenes at the 'Dome' today
Parliament is set to reconvene today, September 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following an emergency recall by Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The recall was prompted by a petition from the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who voiced the Majority caucus’ dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s decision to adjourn the previous session indefinitely on July 30, 2024.
The emergency sitting will address several key issues, including discussions on a Financing Agreement between the Government of Ghana and the International Development Association, requests for tax exemptions for beneficiaries under the One District, One Factory Programme, and matters concerning the Ghana Financial Stability Fund.
The consideration of several bills is also on the agenda.
Due to ongoing repairs at the main chamber of the 9th Parliament, the Speaker has designated the Dome at the International Conference Centre as the venue for today’s sitting.
The repairs are not expected to be completed in time for the recall.
