Rawlings goes home today
Former President Jerry John Rawlings will be buried today, Wednesday, 27 January 2021.
This will end four days of national mourning.
The former President has been lying in state for two days at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The pre-burial service which will take place at the Independence Square.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Vice President, government officials, former President Mahama and Kufuor as well as the diplomatic corps are expected to be at the funeral.
The funeral activities started on Sunday with a Catholic Requiem Mass at the Holy Spirit Cathedral and a vigil at the Air Force Officers Mess in Accra.
Mr. Rawlings was then laid in state on Monday, January 25th and Tuesday, January 26th, at the AICC for Ghanaians to pay their last respect to their former leader.
Mr Rawlings died on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness.
