Sefwi Akontombra: Ursula inspects telecom mast at Yawkrom
The Communications and Digitalisation minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has inspected the construction of a telecom mast at Yawkrom and other towns in the Western North Region.
The project which forms part of the government’s rural telephony is being spearheaded by the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), an agency under the ministry.
Interacting with the people of Yawkrom, Mrs. Owusu Ekuful noted that, the yet-to-go-live telecom mast on site is a fulfillment of a promise she made to the community upon her earlier visit before the 2020 elections.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional council at Yawkrom, the Nkosuohene, Nana Fynn Sekou, appealed to the minister to equip their ICT lab with computers and aid in facilitating portable water to the only clinic in the community.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, who’s on a seven-day tour of the region, also visited Aprutu, Asanteman, Bonwire and Nkwadu to interact with the people and obtain first-hand information on their network accessibility.
The legislator promised to construct ICT labs for the communities and equip the existing ones.
She was accompanied by the Member of Parliament and District Chief Executive for Sefwi Akontombra, Alex Tetteh Djornobuah and Yawson Amoah respectively.
