The Ghana Police Service’s Special Operations Team in Bole has stepped up patrol and community engagement activities to enforce the ongoing curfew and sustain peace in the area.

Between September 5 and 6, 2025, the team carried out night patrols and strategic community outreach across Bole township and its border communities in the Savannah Region.

On the night of September 5, a total of 89 personnel, led by ASP Bawa Jalil, Head of Operations – Special Operations Team, conducted extensive patrols to boost visibility, deter crime, and respond swiftly to potential threats.

During the exercise, an unidentified motorbike rider abandoned a black Scutta mini motorbike with registration number MS 233-225 at the New Hospital bungalow area and fled upon spotting the police.

The motorbike has since been retrieved and lodged at the Bole District Police Command for further investigation.

Police reported that all communities visited remained calm and orderly, noting that the patrol presence continues to build public confidence and encourage compliance with law and order.

On September 6, the Special Operations Team shifted focus to community engagement, interacting with residents, market women, business operators, and opinion leaders to gather feedback on the curfew’s enforcement and its impact on daily life.

While residents acknowledged improvements in security and peaceful coexistence, they also voiced concerns about the economic and social toll of the curfew, particularly on evening trading activities.

The Chief Imam of Bole, together with his elders, praised the professionalism and discipline of the officers but appealed for a review of the curfew, citing its disruption of religious practices, especially dawn and evening prayers.

In response, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding peace, protecting lives and property, and strengthening collaboration with all stakeholders.

Authorities say feedback collected will inform future recommendations regarding curfew enforcement in the Bole jurisdiction.
