Take advantage of available flights and return home – Foreign Ministry to Ghanaians in Lebanon
The government has expressed grave concern over the rapidly escalating conflict in Lebanon, where ongoing Israeli airstrikes have displaced over one million people, including a devastating attack in central Beirut.
The deteriorating situation has raised fears of a potential full-scale invasion.
In a statement issued on Friday, 4 October 2024, government urged all Ghanaian nationals in Lebanon to leave the country immediately via available flights.
Highlighting the urgency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration advised Ghanaians with incomplete documentation to contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt, or the Honorary Consulate in Beirut for assistance in facilitating their safe return.
“Considering the deteriorating situation, the government of Ghana encourages all Ghanaian nationals in Lebanon to take advantage of the available flights to immediately leave the country.
“The government entreats all Ghanaians in Lebanon to act promptly on this advice to avoid any emergencies,” the statement emphasized.
The call comes in the wake of Israel's intensified airstrikes on Monday, 23 September 2024, which marked the deadliest day in Lebanon since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group.
