Two STC bus drivers perish, others injured in Akim Asafo crash
An Intercity STC bus driver and his co-driver have died in an accident at Akim Asafo in the Eastern Region.
According to a police report, the Scania Marcopolo bus with registration number GE 8136-16, which the drivers were on, hit an abandoned diesel articulated truck with registration number GC 7150-11 at about 2:30 am on Wednesday, 16 June 2021, while passengers were on board.
The articulated truck, which was heading to Accra from Kumasi, was abandoned after it developed a mechanical fault.
The drivers, Victor Quest and Joshua Tay, died instantly.
Their bodies have been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital for preservation.
The passengers, including a police escort, were rushed to the Kibi Government Hospital for treatment.
