Volta Lake disaster: 5 dead, boat owner in police custody
Five people on Saturday morning, 18 March 2023, died after the boat they were travelling in capsized on the Volta Lake around Ada.
The boat according to eyewitnesses was carrying mourners.
The passengers were crossing Azizakpe, an island community when the accident happened.
None of the passengers according to reports had a life jacket on.
The owner of the boat has since been arrested.
Gabriel Ajigodi is currently in custody at the Ada Foah Police Station, assisting the police with investigations.
