Young people in Ghana have been encouraged to harness social media and modern technology to promote peace, innovation, and national development, instead of using them as tools to spread conflict and violence.

Speaking to Class News correspondent Samuel Addo at a Youth Entrepreneurship Forum, Mr Edward Kareweh, Director of Policy, Advocacy, Legal and Entrepreneurship Support Hub, advised young people to take advantage of digital platforms to drive progress.

He stressed that social media should be used to advance creativity, business growth, and unity.

According to him, “the youth should seize the opportunity presented by social media to drive innovation and progress, rather than engaging in activities that promote conflict.”

Also addressing participants, anti-corruption campaigner Emmanuel Wilson emphasised the importance of building strong internal systems that prevent corruption in entrepreneurship.

He noted that focusing solely on exposing corrupt acts is not enough, and that young business leaders must create structures that make corruption impossible in the first place.

He described preventative systems as “key to eradicating corruption in businesses and society.”

The event organiser, Patrick Asford Boadu, CEO of the Young Progressive Network, urged the youth—especially young women—to venture into entrepreneurship.

He highlighted its potential to boost the country’s economy and create sustainable development.

Boadu encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take bold steps, stating that their innovations can drive significant economic growth and transform communities across the nation.
