Ahafo Ano South West DCE pledges to upgrade CHPS compounds to expand healthcare access
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Alhaji Abubakar Sedik, has announced plans to upgrade existing CHPS compounds and construct new ones across the district to improve access to quality healthcare services.
Speaking to the media during a visit to Bonkwaso Nõ1 and Afresi Camp, Mr Sedik disclosed that the Assembly intends to acquire and renovate a private health facility in Bonkwaso Nõ1, and construct a new CHPS compound at Afresi Camp.
“Quality healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are taking deliberate steps to bring healthcare services closer to our people,” he said.
He explained that the renovation of the private facility, once purchased, would include the establishment of a fully equipped laboratory to enhance diagnostic services.
In addition, the Assembly will renovate nurses’ quarters in the community to support staff retention and service delivery.
The initiative forms part of the District Assembly Common Fund’s broader agenda to enhance healthcare infrastructure and reduce disparities in healthcare access within the district.
Mr. Michael Kwakye, the District Disease Control Officer, welcomed the development, describing it as timely and strategic.
“This initiative will significantly improve healthcare delivery in Bonkwaso Nõ1 and surrounding communities.
It will also help reduce the patient load on the Mankranso Government Hospital,” he noted.
