COVID-19: 8 MPs in self-quarantine
Eight Members of Parliament have been told to self-quarantine after they recently returned from trips abroad.
The Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Oquate made this known to the media on Monday, 23 March 2020.
“You don’t expect me to mention names. This is not done anywhere with regards to these conditions. They are in self and voluntary isolation under the supervision and advice of our medical doctor and the clerk to Parliament…You don’t go about issuing details of names and all that. We are handling a matter in a very professional manner,” Prof Oquaye said.
He also directed all National Service personnel and other staff to work from home as part of measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Ghana has recorded 24 cases of COVID-19 with one death.
The government has announced various measures including a ban on all social gatherings and the closure of the country's borders.
