COVID- 19: Enterprise Group provides GHS20m insurance for frontline health workers
The Enterprise Group has presented GHS 20,000,000 to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) as life insurance cover for the country’s frontline health workers fighting the coronavirus.
The presentation follows Ghana’s record of seven cases of COVID-19.
Government as part of measures to prevent further spread of the disease has banned all public gatherings.
Speaking in an interview at the presentation on Wednesday, 18 March 2020, Chief Finance Officer of Enterprise Group, Daniel Larbi-Tieku noted that: “In these difficult times that the world is going through this pandemic, we thought that it was necessary that we showed up to support the fight against this pandemic; that is why we have come up to support the bodies and institutions that are helping to manage the spread.”
Mr. Larbi-Tieku explained that the life insurance cover will cover at least 2,000 beneficiaries, all of whom are frontline workers of the GHS.
“We have put in place life insurance cover for the Ghana Health Service to the tune of GHS20,000,000 which will cover at least 2,000 beneficiaries who are front life staff of the GHS,” he said.
He also disclosed that the group has “also supported Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research with GHS60,000 to support in the procurement of testing materials. We have also supported the Ridge Hospital with GHS40,000 to procure consumables to help protect patients who will be referred to them.”
