COVID-19: No new infections among health workers due to provision of PPE – GHS

 The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is reporting that COVID-19 infections amongst frontline officials have significantly dropped due to the provision of more Personal Protective Equipment.

 

So far 1,870 who have been infected in the line of duty have recovered out of a total of 2,065 leaving six officials succumbing to the disease.

The Ghana Medical Association in the last few days has raised concerns over the increasing rate of infections amongst its members.

But addressing the media in Accra on Thursday, 16 July 2020, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr Patrick Aboagye noted that no new infections have been recorded amongst health workers in the last few days.

He attributed the situation to the increased supply of PPE and other logistics to frontline workers.

Meanwhile, the country has recorded 264 new COVID-19 cases taking the national caseload to 26,125 with 22,270 recoveries.

The death toll remains 139 with 3, 716 active cases as at Thursday, 16 July 2020.
