COVID-19: VR death toll now 6

Six persons have died of COVID-19 in the Volta Region as of Monday, 22 June 2020.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Volta Regional Health Director, Dr Kwesi Dzokoto, in an interview with Class News in Ho when he received some PPE from the One Volta Foundation, a local NGO.
Ghana's COVID-19 caseload currently stands at 14,007, the Ghana Health Service reported on Sunday, 21 June 2020.
Also, the number of recoveries has increased to 10,473.
The death toll is 85.
The Volta Region has a total of 314 cases.
Dr Dzokoto told Class News’ Volta regional correspondent Albert Kuzor that: “We have seen families who have painfully lost people to COVID-19. As of today, we have six mortalities in the Volta Region. As we speak today, the same people are being buried, two of the six are being buried today.”
The Deputy Volta Regional Health Director reminded residents of the region that the power to stop the further spread of the deadly virus lies with them.
He stated: “The main challenge, I would say, is adherence to the preventive measures because the power, the responsibility to break the transmission lies with the individuals. So, if the individuals are washing their hands with soap and running water when available, when available; they use alcohol-based hand sanitiser, they ensure social distancing wherever they are, and then they wear their nose masks. These measures are adequate enough to break the transmission.”
Dr Dzokoto, however, noted that just like all public health interventions that have been implemented in history have always taken time to sink down well with the masses, he was optimistic that the COVID-19 safety protocols will soon become a part of the daily lives of people.
