The Class Media Group (CMG), operators of Class FM, Accra FM, and Number 1 FM, among others, across the regions, has taken a bold step in promoting women’s health and early detection of breast cancer by organising a free breast cancer screening exercise at the forecourt of its premises in Accra.

The exercise, held in collaboration with Berry Health and AFT Diagnostic Centre, formed part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The programme started quite early, with women beginning to troop in as early as 7:30 a.m. to partake in the screening and health education sessions.

The event attracted staff, listeners, viewers, and members of the public who took advantage of the opportunity to undergo screening and receive expert guidance from a team of medical professionals.

Speaking to Class FM's Gifty Boateng, David Adu Tease of AFT Diagnostic Centre urged women to take their health seriously and prioritise regular medical check-ups beyond breast screening.

He emphasised the need for women to “constantly monitor their heart condition, blood pressure, and overall wellbeing,” adding that early detection in all aspects of health can prevent complications and save lives.

Mr. Adu Tease explained that the screening process began with the checking of height, weight, and temperature, after which participants proceeded to undergo the breast screening.

In cases where medical conditions required prescriptions or further attention, Berry Health stepped in to provide support and medication.

Christabel, also from AFT Diagnostic Centre, described the ongoing exercise as smooth and successful, expressing hope that it would continue in the same spirit throughout the day.

Health professionals at the event reiterated that early detection remains the most effective way to fight breast cancer, and encouraged the public to adopt regular self-examination and routine check-ups as part of their lifestyle.

Management of Class Media Group reaffirmed the company’s commitment to using its platforms to champion public health education and preventive healthcare advocacy, particularly on issues that affect women and vulnerable groups.

The screening exercise adds to a growing list of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives by Class Media Group, aimed at improving community health and well-being.

Representatives from Marie Stopes Ghana, led by Bernice Coffie, are also participating in the outreach, educating women about cervical cancer and other female reproductive health risks.

They are informing participants about the range of sexual and reproductive health services they provide and are distributing free Flame condoms as part of their health education efforts.
