Coronavirus: We're well-resourced to handle suspected cases - Accra Reg. Hosp.
A public health physician at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr Lilian Addai, has assured the public that the hospital is well-resourced to handle suspected cases of the Coronavirus.
Speaking in an interview with CTV News, Dr Addai indicated that facilities have been put in place to cater for suspected cases.
She explained: “There are four rooms in this facility and each is self-contained: changing and resting room for health personnel, nurses’ station, dirty area to dispose used personal protective equipment and for laundry as well”.
Even though Dr Addai could not disclose the actual number of suspected cases that had been brought to the centre so far, she said the hospital had attended to some suspected cases which were brought from the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) but tested negative.
“We have received a number of suspected cases, their samples were sent to Noguchi for a thorough investigation but all proved negative, so, we discharged them after giving them some medication,” she said.
The coronavirus outbreak has killed some 1,016 people so far with 60,000 people infected.
At least, 25 countries have confirmed cases and several nations have evacuated their citizens from Hubei, China.
