Covid-19 kills 253 in Ashanti region

Two hundred and fifty-three people have so far died from the coronavirus pandemic in the Ashanti region.
The region has recorded a total number of 15,568 cases since the outbreak while 15,280 have recovered.
Addressing the media today, Monday, 17 May 2021, Regional Director for Health Services, Dr Emmanuel Tenkrong said active cases for the region now stand at 35 while new cases recorded last week are 26.
Dr. Tenkrong indicated that they have received 150,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines for the second round of the Covid-19 vaccination exercise.
He said the exercise which will start on Wednesday, 19th May 2021 will target people who were vaccinated between 2nd March and 9th March during the first round of the exercise.
He said those who will refuse to bring the vaccination card given them during the first round of the exercise will not be vaccinated.
