The District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) has donated a 500 KVA standby generator set to the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra Region to enhance uninterrupted power supply and strengthen healthcare delivery.

The generator was officially handed over by the Administrator of the DACF, Mr. Harry Hanson, who led a delegation to the hospital for a brief ceremony.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Hanson emphasised the importance of Korle-Bu as Ghana’s premier and oldest medical institution, noting its central role in providing specialised healthcare services to citizens across the country and beyond.

He explained that the donation was made following a request from the hospital’s management for support to ensure continuous operations in its critical departments.

“As a constitutional body mandated to promote equitable access to essential socio-economic services, including healthcare, the DACF found it necessary to respond positively to the hospital’s appeal,” Mr. Hanson stated.

“We are confident that this 500 KVA generator will improve power reliability and enable life-saving procedures to continue without disruption.”

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, expressed profound gratitude to the DACF for what he described as a timely and strategic intervention.

He explained that the new generator will support key departments such as the Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre, the Maternity Department, and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) — all of which rely heavily on stable power for critical operations.

“This gesture will go a long way to safeguard the lives of patients who depend on emergency and intensive care services,” Dr. Adam remarked.

Also present at the ceremony were the Acting Director of the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre, Dr. Edem Anyigba, along with other senior management and staff members from both the DACF and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
